About

History

Firetek was founded in 1996; with our first project firestopping the penetrations on a new hotel near the Kansas City airport. After a few more projects Firetek was incorporated in February of 1997. Since then, Firetek has had the opportunity to work on thousands of projects in the Health care, Industrial, Military, Commercial and Residential industry.

Qualification

Firetek is a charter member of the FCIA (Firestop Contractors International Association) where we co-authored the "Firestop Manual of Practice" published in September 2000, in association with Factory Mutual. Firetek currently serves on the FCIA Technical Committee. Previously, member(s) have served on the advisory boards with Nelson Firestop and John's Manville, as well as consulting work with architects, building owners and code officials concerning firestopping issues.

Firetek has been certified through Underwriters Laboratories (UL) "Qualified Contractor Program." UL Certification enables general contractors, architects, AHJs, and building owners to identify QUALIFIED contractors in the firestop industry.

Training is a vital strategy in maintaining installation, product and system expertise,. Therefore, our key personnel and field foreman have received factory and field training from Hilti, Specified Technologies Inc (STI), and 3M. Continuous training is made as personnel rotate and as new products and systems evolve.

Firetek is trained to instal systems for all types of through penetrations, as well as, head of wall, construction joints, perimeter joints, curtain wall systems and kitchen exhaust/grease duct enclosures for new construction and retrofit projects. In addition to firestopping, Firetek installs rated and non-rated expansion joints, caulking and sealants, fireproofing, intumescent coatings, and provides general construction services.
